The mission of Oasis of Hope Dollars for Scholars is to promote educational excellence through activities and programs that prepare and encourage individuals and families to pursue post-secondary education to enhance the quality of lives, and to strengthen the communities in which we live.
The purpose of OHDFS is to provide educational guidance and financial support to individuals seeking to enhance their quality of life through pursing post-secondary education.
We were chartered as Oasis of Hope Dollars for Scholars in 2006 and renewed our affiliation with Scholarship America as an Affiliate Chapter in 2013. Our goal is to provide educational support and information to the students in the Oasis of Hope community and specifically in the 46218 postal code (Martindale-Brightwood community).
Grants and Awards:
- Co-sponsored Oasis of Hope Black History Celebration
- Catalyst for new category added to "Hoosier Heroes" Scholarship
- Received $5000 Grant for Special Programs from Scholarship America
- Awarded over 80 scholarships totaling approximately $82000 in financial scholarships
- Awarded "Best New Chapter Award" for 2006-2007
- Awarded "Most Innovative Chapter Award" in 2007 and 2009
- Recieved the "Indiana Volunteer of the Year Award" in 2011
- Awarded 2012 Regional Chapter of the Year
- Received $10,000 grant from Indiana Dollars for Scholars for Renewable Scholarships in 2013 and beyond
- Provide training for college financial planning for parents and career planning to students
- Resource for college planning information and scholarships
